Mexican politician Marcelo Luis Ebrard Casaubón was born on October 10, 1959. He currently holds the position of Secretary of Foreign Affairs and on December 1, 2018, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador selected him to head the foreign ministry. Marcelo Ebrard has ever since been associated with the National Regeneration Movement (MORENA) since that year. He formerly held the position of president of the UN Global Network on Safer Cities. In the Federal District election of 2006, he was the elected representative of the electoral coalition led by the Democratic Revolution Party. He retained this position until 2012.
In the capital of Mexico, he also held the positions of minister of public security and minister of social development in addition to secretary general of the former Mexican Federal District Department. Ebrard was chosen by Project World Mayor in 2010 as the “best mayor in the world.” He served as the World Mayors Council on Climate Change’s chair from 2009 to 2012.
