The spouse of legendary country music performer Loretta Lynn was Oliver Vanetta Lynn, Jr., also referred to as Doolittle Lynn (or Doo and Mooney) (August 27, 1926). He was American and managed talent.
Loretta Lynn, a country music superstar, and Oliver Vanetta Lynn were married when she was only 15 and he was 21. Six children would eventually be born into this union, which remained together until Oliver’s passing in 1996.
Oliver and Loretta’s marriage, however, was not without its challenges. It was actually quite convoluted, full of abuse, betrayal, and strife. Nevertheless, Loretta remained at Oliver Lynn’s side; she called him “Doolittle” or “Doo.”
Irish-born Doo was born in Johnson County’s Butcher Hollow. He worked as a moonshine runner and coal miner in Kentucky, earning the moniker Mooney.
Less than a month after they first met, on January 10, 1948, he wed Loretta Lynn. They left Kentucky, where they had lived, while Loretta was carrying their first child. They travelled to the logging community of Custer, Washington, and settled there.
Where Is Oliver Lynn Now?
On August 22, 1996, Oliver Lynn passed away, five days shy of turning 70. Diabetes-related health issues and heart failure were blamed for his demise.
